Being centrally located on Long Island, this college allows for quick access to down town New York City as well as a quick hop over to the beach for some more quiet reflection. The second site on Long Island is located in Hauppauge. Hauppauge New York is home to one of the largest industrial parks on Long Island. This makes it the ideal place for working people to be able to continue their education without having to travel long distances. With state of the art facilities available for all students to use, it is a very convenient extension of Empire State College. This location serves students who live in the western and central Suffolk county region.

The final site located on Long Island is the Riverhead Location. This branch of Empire State College is located on Main Street in Riverhead. This extension of the college opened in 1998. They are only open in the afternoon and evenings during the later part of the week. However, this seems to work well for the students that come from the Suffolk county area to continue their education. The location makes the student body at this campus one of the most diverse an exciting groups of all the Empire State College campuses.
